I'm A Newbie!!!
I'm sure that since you are such a Newbie there is not a whole lot you can eat yet. Are you still doing the full liquid diet? Whatever you are doing, be sure to get your protein in! You don't want to lose your hair. I am almost 7 years out and find that I do alot better when I eat protein first and I do very little carbs. At one point I had gained about 20 pounds because I ate too many carbs, they go straight for my butt! Even thought I didn't eat alot of it at one time. It can add up and over time you can start to gain. (Of course you don't have to worry about that now!) But do worry about your protein! May I ask who did your surgery? I haven't heard of anyone around here having the Fobi Pouch. And by the way, welcome!
Hi Melissa,
I was lucky enough to get the ok for my first bite of solid food on Thanksgiving! Mashed potatoes and gravy. After that I have been concentrating on protein for my meal. I had to be rehospitalized twice since the original surgery. The first time I had a collapsed lung and an abcess at the surgery site. Spent 7 days in the hospital. I was home for 4 days and had extreme nausea. Whenever I tried to drink something (water, ice chips) I would get the dry heaves; so I stopped drinking. I was really dehydrated and when I went back in the hospital, everytime someone would FINALLY get an iv in, it would pop out. It was a horrible time. I had a stomach stapling 7 yrs ago, so I was warned that there was a higher chance of complications, but I was not prepared. I guess that is why I am scared to eat. I don't want to go back in the hospital. Dr Black did my surgery and was assisted by Dr Jones. My husband does business with Dr Jones and asked him to assist on my surgery and he agreed. Dr Black is wonderful. When I had my stomach stapled it was done by Dr Shamblin. I had the RNY not the Fobi.
Thanks for the welcome!!!
I know lots of people that really like Dr. Black. I was wondering about the Fobi because thats what your profile says you had and wondered exactally what the difference was. I'm sorry you had such a rough time. We revise lots of previous VBG patients I'm sure in very little time you will be really happy with the RNY. Take care!
