Dr. Jonathan Taylor in Zachary

In this past Sunday newspaper in Baton Rouge, there was an ad for the new weight loss surgery center at Lane Hospital in Zachary - there's a info meeting next week. I called the # to ask questions. Although the gal answering the phone didn't know much about bariatric surgery, I did get the surgeon's name, & the fact that he's from California & he's done 5 laps. I asked if it was lap RNY, and she said, "no, he just does the lap". Like I said, she didn't have all of the answers. I think I'll call again tomorrow & ask to speak with his nurse or medical assistance, then maybe I can get some answers. Does anyone know this doctor? Had surgery with him? I may be interested since he's closer to me. Thanks

Jean, I would make sure that the surgeon you use has done several open and lap RNY. Experience is what cuts down on complications. I would find a doctor that has done several hundred. I have just begun looking for a Dr. who does lap-band. However, I am currently living in Tx, but moving back to Baton Rouge in November. Are there any weight loss centers in BR? I have read a little about NeWeigh, but I'm not sure exactly what it is. I also have read alot about Dr's Hargroder and Bellanger, but I don't know which one is best for me. If you care to share any other info you have found, I would be interested in reading it. Do any of these Dr's do seminars in the Baton Rouge area? I haven't seen info on any so far, but I'm not physically in BR yet, so all my info comes from what I can find on the internet. Good luck on your journey. Fran

I had surgery in August, my surgeon was Dr. Hargroder. I can not say enough about my experience. It was wonderful. The staff at NeWeigh is fantastic. I had the By-pass and was back at work after 2 weeks. I know that Dr. Hargoder has done the Lap Band. I was originally opting for it. I then changed my mind and went with the by-pass. I have no regrets. I wish you the best of luck in what every you choose. My insurance was great also.
