Dr. Martin or Dr. Richardson in New Orleans Area???

Has anyone used either of these doctors for their weight loss surgery?

Sorry - I have not heard of them - but my Dad's Dentist in Livingston, La (Dr. Day) recently had the surgery - and he used a Dr. in New Orleans - he had researched real good and decided on a Dr. there, but don't know the name. Maybe you could call him and ask him. I just had the surgery on 9/01/04 and Dr. Lavin in Covington, La did my surgery. He is a very good Dr. and has done over 1,000 people with good success. He also teaches other Dr. to do this surgery. I am doing good and have lost 20 lbs. in 20 days. Andria in Loranger

Hi carla, Dr. Martin is my doctor. He is doing my surgery on Monday. My primary told me that he would not recommend anyone else. He has a team of people that work with him that are great. I have total confidence in him. They have many hoops that you have to jump through, many that other drs don't have, but I feel like they do everything that they can do to insure that you have a safe outcome. Carla, I am not using Dr. Richardson, but a partner of his that is new to the area. She has lots of experience from Florida...If i recall correctly she has done over 200 surgeries and this is her specialty. Her name is Colleen Kennedy, M.D. and she works out of Ochsner. I am scheduled to have my surgery on 10/25. Dr. Kennedy is VERY personable and friendly. I am very pleased with her entire staff so far. And while the Bariatric Department is fairly new (only a year old I think) they do have their act together and Dr. Kennedy and her team have been EXCELLENT so far! The nutritionist is, Adrienne, is wonderful and VERY accessible! But, I have to admit, I am biased..I work for Ochsner...and even if I didn't I would never go to another hospital to have surgery..I am extremely happy with Ochsner. Good luck in your research and if you are interested in meeting some of the team...they have a monthly seminar for those interested...you can call (504) 842-4070 and ask when the next seminar is. They are free to attend. You will meet one (or both) of the doctors, the nurses, the nutritionist(s), and the Physical Therapy crew. I hope this helps. Hi Carla, My sister had the lap band with Dr. Martin 2 1/2 years age. She is very pleased with him. She told me he was one of the leaders in the lap band trials when it was being approved. I don't know which surgery you are having, if this info would apply. I am also looking for a Dr. in the general Baton Rouge area. I can't decide if I should go to Dr. Martin or look for someone closer. My problem is the constant commuting back and forth to New Orleans for appts. I am somewhat overwhelmed with info at this point. My insurance will change in December, so I want to be ready to pursue this at that time.
