I scheduled my consult today.

I am so excited. I scheduled my consult today with the surgeon. It is on July 20th. I have taken the first of many steps. I hope all goes well. I am glad I have found this site. Everyone is supportive. Out here in the real world, it is not as easy. Most people just do not understand why we would go to such measures to be healthy. My husband is supportive, but scared. My parents, siblings and friends (most of whom are obese) think that I have lost my mind. I have directed them to this site so they too may understand or at least get some insight.

Karen, Glad to see you here. You will get so many questions answered. Sometimes without having to ask. Its good that your husband is supportive. Mine is like yours , supportive but scared also. Thankfully my family are all supportive also. Just keep talking it up with yours. They will finally come around I hope. If anything they will be happy and excited because you are. Good luck with all the dr appts that you will be going to in the near future. Dont hesitate to ask any questions. I prob wont have many answers since I am still pre op, but there are many hear that will be glad to help.. Sondra

Karen, congrats to making the first step in the direction of your new life. I remember making this first step two years ago and even though I hit some bumps in the road, I'm so happy that I did it.
