Hi Sueella...I fought my insurance co. for seven years trying to have lap gastric bypass surgery, I could never convince them to pay for it. I had to do something so I decided to selfpay. In Mexico the surgery was half the price it is in the U.S. I thought long and hard, did a ton of research, talked to several people who had their surgery done there, discussed it with my PCP and decided to go for it. I was scared and nervous but I still got on that plane. My surgery date was April 22. I followed my surgons pre-op instructions to a T. My surgery went fine, no post-op problems. The hospital was very clean and quiet the nurses and the Dr.'s staff were all wonderful. They took very good care of me. I was supposed to be in Mexico for 14 days, I was doing so well the Dr. let me come home 4 days early. I am now 6 weeks post-op and I have lost 48 pounds. I hope this post helps to calm your fears some. Good luck and I will be praying for you.

Howdy from Texas Sueella, I also had an adjustable gastric band put in in Reynosa , Mexico. The hospital was beautiful, modern, sparkling clean. The staff and doctors were wonderful. All went wonderfully. I ended up having to have my taken out because I have a deformity of my esophagus that wouldn't let me push my food through, but the doctor said I was one of those 3% of people who had problems. Would I do it again if my esophagus was normal. In a New York minute. I had wonderful care. When the surgeon in San Antonio took it out he said it was seated perfectly. He said it wasn't my fault or the surgeons' fault , it was just one of those flukes. So I say go for it. I've had 4 other friends, 3 bands and 1 RNY who had their procedure in Mexico and all are losing well, feeling great. Take that chance. Me, I have just been put on Medicare so hopefully will have RNY in a few months. Love to you, ANdrea
