hi everyone!! i am now 8 days post op and have not had one complication. thank god!! however, i am having a few problems. such as: thinking that i can eat-when i can't, battling the craving for food, and thinking that i am not going to lose weight-because i feel this way. i am really having a hard time with the protein drink. it's crazy!! also, did anyone NOT stay on a stricked liquid diet for 2 weeks? can anyone out there explain these feelings to me or help me feel that i am not the only one like this? love you all, brook carcamo

Hey Brooke, I had Lap RNY on 4/1/04 and I have not had one complication either. I have never felt sick or nautious with anything i've eaten. (KNOCK ON WOOD!) I am having a problem with craving the taste of things that I cannot have right now. I'm trying to deal with it by having a wide variety of items that I can have. I have been having alot of baby food..... and its been saving me I eat the fruit varities that have no added sugar and I also eat the baby oatmeal cereal. I just add splenda to all of it to make it a little sweeter. Keep In touch! Kelly

Hey Brooke, Dont' tell anyone LOL Someone once told me that when she had really bad cravings she would take a bite of the food she was craving chew it and spit it out. Don't swallow it. DO NOT . I dont know if this will help. Im still pre op. Melissa

I know how you are feeling. I wanted something crunchy. I was tired of everything liquid. You have such a longing for "real" food. It is like you have lost your best friend. Don't worry I think that this is normal. As time goes by you will think less and less about what you can't have and more on what you can have. I no longer eat to eat but I eat to live. It has made a word of difference thinking like that. You need to find things to do with your hands. Paint your nails, fold laundry...anything. OR there is always walking! What kind of protein drink are you using? I have found that Whey Fruity is more like kool aid and I can really handle that. I cannot take those "milk" protein shakes. Never have been able to. I hope that this helps ya. Rhonda

Hi Brook, My name is Donald. I'm in the middle of my second week. I also got cravings but I look at my self and think "do I want to go back how I was on all the medicant and do I want to be less active like I was." Then I think how good I will look when I get to my goal weight and get all the people I don't know saying how good I look and to be a roll model to other people. Just hang in there. It will get better just try to think how good you will look when you get to your goal weight. E-mail me if you have any more trouble or just want to talk. Good luck, you can do it
