Unfortuantely Eunice..Yes this is a sign of CHF. I had swollen ankles for about a year and I never really paid too much attention to it because I thought that it was just another issue because of my obesity. I should have listened to my husband when he told me I needed to go to my doctor to get it check out!! I just got out of the hospital December 16, 2003 for CHF. So, I advise you to be "VERY" concerned about it! Go to your doctor soon

Hello from a Newbie with heart problems. CHF sounds scary and if not taken care of, it IS scary. Weightloss along with Lasix to help drain the fluid is very helpful. CHF is when for some reason the heart isn't working 100%. Getting a doctor to evaluate the situation is the best way to go. A stress test, heart echo or RHC/LHC usually determines the reason why the heart isn't working 100%. From what I hear most obese patients have heart problems and weight loss can help the heart get back to 100% or nearly 100%.
