Has anyone had surgery with Dr. Philip Gachassin, at East Jefferson Hospital, in New Orleans? I'd like to hear of your experience and your opinion of him as your surgeon. Rhetta Domingue ([email protected])

Rhetta, I did and he is a sweetie. I was concerned because he is so young and is fairly new in the area. But he is so caring and takes all the time in the world to answer questions and is really supportive. Mine ended up being an open surgery instead of lap, but I don't think it was anything the dr did. I personally had very little pain either in the hospital or after I came home. I was able to go back to work part-time after 2 weeks (a desk job). He's supposed to be starting group support sessions real soon. I will let you know tho that you need to plan to have someone with you all the time in EJ. The nursing staff was nice, but they weren't physically prepared to handle a large patient. Except for one young man (who was wonderful). But they were attentive, checked on me frequently (I think that had something to do with Dr G). He assured me before I went in that I wouldn't hurt, he left strict orders for that!! Anyway, don't worry. I'd do it again. Let me know if you have any more questions. Linda
