Has anyone considered surgery in Mexico? I'm having it done on 7/4/11. I did a lot of research, 4 months to be exact. I feel he is not only the best in the US, but the best in the world. I know some feel it's pretty drastic, going to Mexico, but I've actually made appts. with a couple of doctors here in Baton Rouge and they know this particular doctor.  He's very good. He is on the Board of American surgeans, uses FDA approved bands, ect.

For someone who's insurance won't pay it is a thought. I'm having the gastric plication done. He's the pioneer of the preceedure and he's awsome. I'm only paying $7500.00.  This includes the hospital and 5 star hotel.

Just a thought in case someone is interested who's insurance won't pay. I'm not an employee of them or anything like that. I live here in Baton Rouge. Here's their website www.obecitycontrolcenter.com

To get a band, you need follow up and band adjustments.  This is really not feasible if you have a band done in Mexico.  Also what if you have complications.  The aftercare after surgery is vital to success.  The docs in Lafayette, Dr. Gachassin does sleeves for $11,500

I've thought about all that could go wrong. I'm staying for days after surgery, I will be about 10 minutes from the hospital and they're not cutting my stomach. They are folding it inward and stitching it.  He's been doing them for about a year or so.

You should go to sleeveplication talk, com,  there is so much information on there also lapbandtalk, com scroll all the way down to the bottom till you find the plication forums. I know that one doctor here in the US quit doing the plications beacuse of some serious infections. Please do your homework  best of luck to you
