Personally I feel that there are so many people on Medicaid because the economy sucks and the unemployment rate is outrageous. Flipping burgers is a dream job right now but does not pay enough to not still be on medicaid. Even a college degree isn't enough now days. That's just my opinion tho.

i agree with sherri.. and personally dont think the negative attitude you have towards ppl who currently have to have medicaid is appropriate. here... i mean dont obese ppl have enough negativity towards us as it is?... i do agree that some ppl are not being truthful to get it have seen a guy walk in with brand new jordans and diamond earrings and get gov assistance before... to the other comments you made you may consider that cell phones are now unlimited for $40 a month and internet is free at local libraries...

Martha,u are RUDE! I  recieve medicaid through a purchase programe for self employed disabled people that  cannot  obtaine any other insurance. It sounds as iff you are  jelous of those  that  can get surg because they have medicaide, lol,if you read  these post you will  realize  how hard it is to get it and we only have  1  dr in louisiana that will except it.

Two things:

If you are not happy with your doctor before you have the surgery you better find another doc now because the experience only gets tougher after surgery.

second I don't think Martha is being particularly rude (just direct) about free care.  personally I am paying out of pocket.  trust me people (tax payers) are not usually going to be supportive of folks getting WLS for free.  best advice .... don't tell em!!!  better yet get a loan and pay for it yourself. but it ain't reasonable to to get free care and then complain publicly about it and THEN to expect folks to not comment.  jus sayin.

you and martha are both rude, heres what I was tought ,if you have nothing nice to say best say nothing at all, this is a place created that we can come to and vent. Also ,I am not getting free care ,I am self employed and a freaking tax payer, plus im disabled so I qualify for a programe that  allows me to  purchase medicaid  just like someone else might purchase  any other insurance,I cannot  buy any other insurance because I have 2 many pre existing conditions. You owe me an appoligy.
It so happens that only  1 dr in the state  will take medicaid,so Im trying to deal with him, whome I have yet to meet, his staff are the ones that are sitting on our paperwork.Im for sure not going to get a loan and pay cash for this if the  insurance I pay for will cover it.I never said  I was getting anything free.Matter of fact  when I  replyed to martha I was clear on that.

no apologies. i will say i did not mean to give offense but yes i am offended when i hear of my hard paid tax money going to medicaid.  This is an open forum and as you said we are all free to comment. advice still stands...if you don't want comments about medicaid don't bring it up.  you could just as easily say "my insurance is only accepted by one doctor".  personally i would not trust a doctor who has to take medicaid to augment his practice.  it would make me wonder if his standards are low.  can you post his name and ask for references from previous patients?  never mind who the insurance company is i hope your surgery is a success.  mine wasn't and i am still paying for it!!!

Hi,im sorry your surgury has not went well, especially after it cost so much.Who is your dr.The one  I am useing is Dr Bellows,he is accually the head of general surgury at Tulane and because its a state teaching hospital they have to take the medicaid, thats the only reason they  take it,and I assume hes very  nice and all,but it seems his staff are over worked and this is likely why  they are so hard to reach and to call back, send in,etc, lol. You are right about the medicaid, its best not to tell everyone I have that, even though I pay for mine the same as anyone pays for an insurance premium.
