I am to have my appointment with Dr. Bellows on Tuesday July 6th. I am so anxious and ready to get everything over so that I can have my surgery. My referral and medical records have already been sent to Dr. Bellows. I just wonder how long its going to take once I have this appointment to get approved for surgery. I still have to see a NUT and I dont know if he is going to make me have the sleep study done or not. I havent had it before.I hope they can answer all that on Tuesday. I am so excited. I have been trying to find a doctor for two years and finally i am here yaaaa. I cant wait to be healthy and feel better. No more painfull knees and hopefully my back also. Also maybe no more asthma. Wouldnt that be great. Not to mention no more being embarressed for my kid's friends to see me this large.  Does anyone that has dr bellows know how long it takes from start to surgery? Thanks guys for all the info....Sherri

When I switched from Dr Steeb to Dr Bellows it was March 2010.  I  had all of my records forwarded to Dr. Bellows' office. I had to get a sleep study done. They accepted the  pshyc evaluation and nutrition classes that i had already completed.  before surgery I had to get clearence from my primary doctor. i also had to get an EKG and chest X-rays.

I aint gonna lie, the surgery hurt like hell, but 2 weeks out and i have dropped 22 pounds. no regrets!

keep pressing ladies, it will happen!

Hey Cleta Ty. I was told by Mrs. Carline that if  i sent as much information about my illnesses due to over weight the better it would be to get approved. So I had my dr send as much as he could. lol I have seen jim for years so there is alot. He just sent something on each diagnoses of an illness that is due or would get better with WLS.

Thanks for the information froggie. I am so glad you are feeling better and its awesome that you have lost 22 pounda in two weeks.  I think i am prepared for the pain. I have gone thru several major surgeries including my neck being cute  6 inches accross and two c-sections plus others. So  hopefully that will help me prepare. Make room for us on the loosersbench lol.

Good luck to you ... it's an awesome journey! I'm six years out and it was the best decision I've ever made. Would do it again in a heartbeat. I don't know your doctor because I just moved here and had my surgery in Michigan.

Because of my surgery, I have gained a half inch in height ... the disc compression in my back has ceased. However, my knee pain has not gotten better; part of that is because of two knee replacement surgeries on my right knee that didn't work. Arthritis is progressive, unfortunately. However, getting the weight off will help immensely.

If you need any help or have any questions, just ask.
