My band journey is ending

Earlier this week I found out my band eroded into my stomach. I felt relief at first because after initially losing 70 pounds in 2006, I gained it all back and haven't had any real weight  loss for years. Every time I ate I would feel pain. I thought it was gas or something. I had my band placed in Mexico because I knew my insurance was not going to pay.

Well my current insurance has an exclusion for WLS and upon the hospital's first call they said they wouldn't have it removed. After sending medical records my insurance has APPROVED me to have the band removed! I swear if I could get a revision out of this I would be happy, but I am grateful for the approval. Who wants to walk around with a hole in their stomach?

Somehow I doubt I will be able to get anything beyond the band removal so now I am back to square one.

So surgery is this week and I am looking forward to getting fixed up.

Glad you were able to get some help. I'm new to Louisiana so I'm not sure where you are. Sorry you weren't able to get a revision, though.

Well it's over a year later and I am finally ready to get another procedure. I've decided to go with the Sleeve and since I am cash pay I may choose Dr. Borland in New Iberia. His price seems like the most reasonable. I want to stay local this time so no Mexico for me, UNLESS I just cannot get a good deal with an experienced surgeon here in Louisiana.

So here we go again. Doing the dance. I am looking to have this process complete by March 2012. Let's see...

Good luck to you with the surgery.  I hope you get what you want.  I have been thru many gastric problems myself.  Check out my story on youtube, its Steve Nuccio weight loss wednesday.

Tell me what you think.

Thanks,
