Hi y'all:

Getting my Southern accent tuned up (I actually lived in Georgia for awhile). I'm moving from Michigan down to Monroe, La., at the end of the month. Anybody live in Monroe? Know a support group or good doctor down there? I had WLS nearly six years ago and have lost 180 pounds. It was the best decision I've ever made.

Looking forward to meeting y'all and making new friends.

I want to also WELCOME you to Louisiana!!!! Its summertime so its HOT. Just in time for seafood if that darn oil leak doesnt ruin it for everyone. I live in southwest louisiana almost intoTexas. lol I have found that OH is the best support board around.  No driving.Comfortable chairs. All the nice people you could imagin and you dont even have to leave your home. lol Never feel that any question is stupid. The only stupid question is one thats not asked. We all have issues or problems or even exciting updates that are posted. The more the merrier i say. Glad to have you here and hope to hear more from you!!!!Sherri

Welcome to Louisiana!!  I live in Calhoun which is a small town right outside of Monroe.  I go to school in Monroe and my husband works there.  I do not have a doctor in town, I go to a doctor in shreveport and haven't attended any support groups yet.  I think there is supose to be one meeting around the 1st of July but I am a newbie and they haven't met since my surgery.  I hope you enjoy it here (oh and ignore the smell, it's just the paper mill LOL!  You get used to it).  Welcome to the south!

Hello Eileen.

My name is Theresa and I live in West Monroe, just across the river from Monroe.  I work in Monroe.   I have the lap band and used Dr. Walter Sartor.  I do not know what types of surgeries he does other than the band, but I am sure they could recommend someone.  Good luck to you.  Will you be working here?

I used to live in the Upper Penisula....I live in West Monroe....

Dr. Merriman (in Shreveport) is my doctor....I love and trust him. As Connie told you...we do have a support group meeting the first Thursday of every month...but you have to be a patient of his. We would love to see you. His phone number is 318-222-3132.

There is also Dr.Barnes, Dr. Jones and Dr. Norwood in Shreveport. I know very little about them.

Dr. Sartor in Monroe is a bariatric surgeon here and I know nothing about his support group. Dr. Zizzi just began WLS and is doing the lap bands.

My husband had Gastric Bypass in 2003...I had the lap band in 2007 and will be having a revision at some point.

Good luck to you and would love to hear from you. I tried to private message you but could not access your profile here....

Welcome to Louisiana!!! Sorry you are coming during the hottest time....:)

Keep in touch...Debbie
