Super Duper Excited!!!
Ok, so I have been approved by my insurance company, and my surgery is scheduled for June 24th. I have an appointment with Dr Chung on the 8th. I've been trying to have this surgery for 15 years and am finally doing it! I'm SO EXCITED! I tried after I had my son, but the company that my husband worked for changed insurance companies, and didn't get to have it done. Then 2 years ago my brother and I were going to have it done at the same time, and once again the company that my husband works for changed insurance companies, and once again I didn't get to have it. I was heart broken. Now the insurance company that I have through my employment covers it, and YAY ME! My brother did have it done in May of 2008 and has done so great! I'm so happy for him. He has supported me through out the whole process and has urged me not to give up. BUT, I have FIVE WEEKS to go! I think I may go mad waiting for it to get here. So here I am, reading up on things that everyone has gone through and going through. If anyone has any helpful hints or information, please fill mein. I want to know everything! Also, does anyone know if there are any sites on Facebook for bariatric surgery?
I spoke with Dr.Bellows office they only do the Lap Band surgery not Gastric bypass. But yes you are correct he does expect medicad.I'm trying to find a doctor who expects medicad and does gstric bypass i've been told it's much more effective than the lap band and results are more long term.If u hear of a doctor that expects medicad for bypass please let me know.My appointent with my PCP is on June 5th and i will need to have the docs info for a referel. Thanks Countygirl.
Countrygirl since you are the only one nice enough to answer my questions.I have a few more.Since the last post I've been reading up on the sleeve it sounds so scary but most effective. My question to you is if i get the Lap Band instead do u think i will lose the weight i need to lose and keep it off.I know this is a silly question but i don't see my PCP until next week and can't wait until then to find answers.Ever since i found out Medicaid will pay for the WLS I can't stay off line reading and researching everything i cant get my hands on.I'm so excited this is like a dream come true.I was a assistant manager at a furniture store.I had insurance that would not cover the surgery.I lose my job when i was 2mons pregnant.Applied for Medicaid and here i am. i consider losing my job a blessing sometimes.Countrygirl i won't lie food has played a big part in my life since i was born .And i must tell you I'm afraid to let it go sometimes. But it's not about me anymore i have a 16mon old son to take care of and I'm all he has in this world. He loves so much and i the same.So if letting food go and living to see my son grow into a man then i can do it for him.I suffer with high blood pressure sleep apnea and back problems. My next question is after i get approved for the surgery and i know i will in jesus name. But after the surgery is over and done can i lean on you for guidence and support since i know u will begin your journey before me.Thanks
I know exactly how you feel. I'm addicted to this site now. I wanna read everything that everyone is going thru or has been thru. I can not believe I'm finally getting to have this done! I've got 23 days untill my scheduled surgery. I'M SO EXCITED!!! I truely hope that this works out for you. I know how it is to want this SO bad. Good luck!!
Thanks Kerri .I pray all goes well for you with your surgery. Please keep me posted on everything after it's done.I mean how your feeling, what your eating, going to the bathroom LOL.I just wanna know all i need to know to prepare myself.I'm still a little squeamish about surgery. But will be brave when it's time.I've learned one thing BIG GIRLS DON"T CRY.
