Sorry, I am using Dr Phillip Gachassin in Lafayette for my surgery.  I have read some messages from people who have used him but it was a while ago so I don't know how far you would need to go back in the forum to look for the threads.
Good luck with your surgery.

I used him and so did my son.  He is the absolute best.  He does the surgery at an outpatient surgery center.  It was $9300 when I had mine.  He is very professional and an excellent Dr.  He has been doing the Gastric Bypass since 1982.  The VSG is a much easier surgery.  You have to stay in a local hotel for a couple of days, but he makes house calls everyday to see you.  This is how he keeps the cost down.  He uses a # 32 bougie, which is on the smaller side.   I have nothing but good things to say about him.

I actually have an appointment to see him on the 17th....I am very anxious.  I live in Ponchatoula, so I will have to stay in a hotel, but that is ok with me...
Thanks for the post!

Have you considered a surgeron that will allow you to stay in the hospital?  Dr. Gachassin in Lafayette has very competive sleeve prices and an excellent program with a great team of professionals that educate you before surgery and follow you for a year after.

I have an appointment with Dr Borland June 30th. I live in Albany LA so I will also stay at the motel. My only problem is getting a small loan to help with the surgery cost.

Tinker: You may want to look into a program that offers you staying in the hospital.  At LGMC in Lafayette, Dr. Gachassin performs the sleeve for a great self-pay price and you get to stay up to 3 nights in the hospital.  They also have a great team including a nurse that had gastric bypass.  Surgery is a tool, the keys to success are education and great post-op care.

I had my consult with Dr. Borland today.  It went very well and I am satisfied with my decision to use him as my surgeon.

Oh, and I actually called to Dr. Gasschasin's office and his price was $11,300 or $11,600....cant remember which.  He also would require me to have a psych evaluation and some other misc things that I will not have to do with Dr. Borland.  Since I am self-pay, every little bit helps...

Tink I am gonna send you a private message.

Thanks for the information. Kalex, what does his post op services look like? Do you have to pay more for them?

I was told that any and all visits that pertain to my sleeve surgery are covered in the surgery price. There is no time limit to it.  However, having said that, if I were to have a gall bladder problem later on, that is not considered to be related to my sleeve.  I wouldnt have thought that, and I doubt that there are any other docs that would consider it to be so either.....just a little common sense maybe...lol
