Hi everyone~
Over 10 years ago started trying to have wls. Never was able to get an insurance to approve. Never able to afford it otherwise.
I had given up on the idea, figured it would never happen. Married my husband a year ago and am now on his insurance (he's a retired vet). Never even thought about wls in relation to his insurance until my pcm suggested it. I think he was surprised at how receptive I was to the idea!! lol
A referral was sent in to Humana, I was approved and now have an appointment with Dr. Thomas Lavin in LA!! They've already verified the insurance and said that I'm approved for the surgery!!
I have an appointment in early April.
Now I have questions that I hope those of you that have been through this before can answer...
My appointment is with the NP.
What will be the next step? How long before meeting with the NP is the surgery normally scheduled for?
The woman on the phone said something about buying their weight loss plan. When I questioned her she said that they would talk to me about it at the appointment.
Do I have to lose weight BEFORE surgery? Isn't the fact that I have a problem with weight loss the reason I'm doing this???
If you have had surgery what kind did you have? Why did you pick that type and are you happy with your decision?
Any info that anyone can share with me would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Toni
