OMG, how devastating to lose your father like that!
I lost my mom 5 years ago to cancer, and its never easy to lose a parent, weather through an illness, or unexpected! :-(
Honestly one of the reasons I am having surgery is because of my mom. She was over weight her whole life, and that's all I've ever known... Is to be over weight, and un healthy!!!
I made a promise to my mom that I would become healthy, and lose this weight (It has been proven that the type of cancer she had is mostly found in obese people, well 88% to be exact.)

As I have always been told, what doesn't kill you will make you stronger, and still no sure I believe that, but everything does happen for a reason!!!

I know this is soooooo old, but I start a AT&T tomorrow and this is li the first thing I want to find out....I will be full time DSL tech support rep so I am eligble for beneifits day 1...I am excited. But unfortunately my 16 year old son has had this surgery suggested to him by SEVERAL people. He is huge but his body just can not handle the weight and it is effecting him physically, mentally and emotionally and I have found a great doctor who works primarily with teens so I just want to make sure he will be covered as well.
Thank you so much for the info!

Hi,
Thanks for your response to my question. I just don't understand why when I call UHC, they always tell me that our plan excludes lap band or gastric bypass surgery for morbid obesity. However, I have 4 physicians who deems this surgery as medically necessary. Once, I loose enough weight I have to have both knees replaced. My orthopedic surgeon doesn't want the proceed
with the knee replacements until he is sure my weight won't make
the knees worse. I also have other health issues that would be beneficial with surgery. I have heard others that work
at the Lafayette call center that the surgery was only an exclusion for our center only do to the fact that for the first two tears when the surgery was covered, some doctors were forging medical documents to cover some Att employees who didn't meet the criteria for the surgery. I will be attending a seminar on the 26th to begin the process.
