Questions about living in Louisiana. Hubby might take an Army civilian job at Fort Polk
Oh, does anyone know if you are allowed to live on base as a civilian working at Fort Polk? I am really worried about where we would live. We have bad credit due to my husband losing his job six months ago and not being able to pay our credit cards so I don't know if we would be able to find a decent place to live if they did credit checks I would need at least four bedrooms. Any tips, advice, or suggestions would be MUCh appreciated!! Thanks
Hello Janel32!
I was born and raised here so I guess you can say that I am partial to my great state and my area..I love it here. It very rarely snows here. The summers are usually extremely hot. Temps range from 95-102 or so in the summer. The winters are usually not very cold. Today, I have on flip flops and it is the middle of November. The coldest months are going to be January and February and when I say cold the average temp is maybe 30 degrees for just a few days out of these months. The area is flat, no moutains here only a few hills.
Here is a link where you may be able to find our more information regarding Fort Polk housing http://www.jrtc-polk.army.mil/. I am not sure of the answers to the living on base question, so please click on the above link and maybe call the number or send them an email regarding this. There are plenty of rental properties in the cities of Leesville and DeRidder and I believe you should find housing. The website for the local newspapers are www.fortpolkguardian.com , www.deridderdailynews.com and www.leesvilledailyleader.com .
