Hi Shannon,

If you can, I would just show up at the doctor's office with no warning and see what happens then. I hope that you are able to get what you need very soon.

People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown

Hello Shannon,

I am sorry to hear that you are having problems and are frustrated. I'm not sure what'up with the docs office, but I wanted to comment that eating "very little" is not always an indicator of success with the band. I had a band for a few years. The band works well with good physical fitness and a revied up metabolism. When I was banded, I was only shooting to have a deficit of 500 calories a day beyond what I needed to maintain my size. This meant my intake goals went from 1800 calories (when I was in the mid-300s) to around 1200 (when I was about 85 pounds down).

Everyone is different and that's why aftercare and good medical advice is so important. My formula will be different from yours.

The bad news is that switching doctors post-band is like pulling teeth. Most doctors will not follow up on a band they did not place or they charge outragious amounts to do so.

Finding a nutritionist familiar with gastric banding might help you more than finding a new doctor unless you are having medical problems with your band.

I'm a big fan of RealizeMySuccess.com for help with logging progress and tracking intake. It's a lot of help and it doesn't cost anything to use it.

Please let me know if there's anything else you need. Revisions are not always what you need so please make somebody listen to your case and help you figure out the problem before you consider more surgery.

Best,
Frances

I just saw three reasons why your quest for wellness is worth the fight.

They are quite beautiful, by the way.

Ok so i went to the Old Dr on Wed cause i still have not heard from the one i was trying to switch to really dont have FOREVER to wait on a DR to make up her mind.......ok anyway I lost .5 lbs in 8 weeks.....lol whatever my food journal is GREAT he said not eating alot he told me that since im only allowed 16 grams of carbs that maybe im getting to much FAT in... so no more BACON  no more EGGS no more HAMBURGERs.........i can live without that no bigg deal he said my BODY has NOT responded to the BAND like it should soooo I go see the Dietitian Monday to get some test done and see if she can help. Well once I try for 8 weeks once i see her and dont loose a DARN thing he said i could have the BYPASS............He also said i wouldn't have to have to BAND removed they could just do it under the BAND which is great cause i have read some people that regain weight with the BYPASS have either the BAND or the SLEEVE done. So I will keep u updated on what is going to happen.....oh I paid cash for my BAND but my insurance will cover the BYPASS............

If you like bacon, eggs, and hamburgers, you might love the Duodenal Switch. We have many successful former band patients. Good luck to you with whatever you choose.
