I never got to the OH Dallas Event......
I have been super stoked about going for weeks. We were 40 miles outside of Dallas when my brother called. We could hear the commotion in the background. My dad (step) was being shocked and the paramedics were loading him up. Apparently he died in his sleep. Mom and I immediately turned around and came home. Mom is taking it very well, i personally am in shock. Mom and I have NEVER been anywhere together....alone and he wanted us to have a great time and get away for a bit. I dont know if i feel guilty for going or it is the fact we never got to say goodbye. I am not sure. My band is super tight right now and I think that is from stress and yesterdays food choices where not that great, i had some chicken nuggets from mcdonalds and then late last night (3am) after the coronor released him, mom, william and i went to ihop (mom diabetic and i was about to fall out also) and I ate the chicken florentine crepes (well i hate half of one). am I going to be ok from eating all that junk/non healthy options? i just dont know what to do.

Amanda,
I am so sorry for your loss of your father. What a terrible shock.
Don't worry about doing things "right" at this time. Just put one foot in front of the other and take care of yourself.
If you are worried about eating something that would hurt your band maybe it would help to write down a few little menus ahead of time just to remind yourself of what will be OK for you...maybe some things that you like a lot that are safe for your band. then ask someone to pick those things up for you at the store so they are available when you are ready to eat. Be comforted but be safe! Later on you can worry about catching up with your long term program.

Amanda .... I am so very sorry. I feel your pain as I read each word. I wish there was something I could do or say to make this heavy load seem lifted. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
I am a former band patient and recall that at times like these I would lock up like a vice. Being very calm and drinking warm liquids helped me when everything seemed to get stuck.
There are going to be sometimes in our journeys where life complicates our desires to make the best choices. It doesn't last forever and the important thing is giving yourself the grace to feel your pain and grief and move into a sense of healing.
When life gets back to normal (ish) so will you.
All my best and hugs,
Frances

I am glad to have gotten the chance to talk with you yesterday. I will get your package in the mail before the week is up. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown
