I am being sleeved on Sept 21 by Dr. Borland and would like any info on the Post Op diets.
Week 1 is clear fluids--other than broth, jello water, water : anything else?
Week 2 is Thickened Liquids: Can some please explain that to me--Obviously Slim Fast but what else--creme soups??
Week 3: Soft Diet:  suggestions please.

I feel ignorant, but do not want to mess this up! Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks, Ang

I had RNY but it does not sound like our diets are too different.

The first 2 weeks were the hardest, I had soup, soup and more soup.  The taste of everything was so intesified I could not handle anything too sweet.  Jello and popsicles made me nauseous.  I chwed on soni**** alot.  I did not think I would be able to eat another spoon full of soup so my husband went and got me some wonton soup.  I loved that broth, it was so tasty. Byt the secong week, you can start having creamy soups which I thought tasted like heaven at that point :o)  we made potato soup alot with protein powder in it.  Just don't add it to very hot soup, it will curdle.  I also had pudding and yogurt.  There is not a whole lot of options those first 2 weeks but I was also not hungry and I had to make myself eat and drink.  It was very hard for me to get in my liqiuds because I was so nauseous for several weeks.  But not everybody is like that so you may not have any problems there.  Just try to remember and tell yourself that this will pass and you will be able to eat real foods again.  You are not ruining your life  LOL, you are making it better.

When you start on soft foods I got a little more creative.  I made mashed potatos with non flavored protein powder, in fact I put protein in most of my foods to help with that.  I had beans, and my favorite was taco bell pintos and cheese.  That helped me through a whole lot.  Just be creative and try to make your foods taste good.  I think that is the key, but not too strong because your pouch will be raw.

Good Luck to you and God Bless.
