Hello,

I am currently on the full liquid pre-op diet...I was told I could have Smoothie King smoothies while on full liquids however, when I look at the nutritional information, it appears to me that they have tons of sugar and carbs.

Do any of you have any suggestions or know which ones we are allowed to have?  Thanks!

One week from today I begin my transformation!!!!

I have spent GOBS of money trying to find the right protein drink that does not make me yack. The ONLY one I can stomach & actually LOVE is from Smoothie King! It's called the "Gladiator" is comes in strawberry, vanilla, chocolate, & you can add what ever fruit you want. I bought the powder in vanilla & strawberry, it comes in a 2.5 pound tub, they are $40 a tub & can make 20 smoothy's!!! B/c if you go to SK and buy one small you will pay a little over $5.00, so if you buy 20 five dollar smoothy's that one-hundred dollars, so your actually saving sixty bucks!....I make mine with frozen raspberries & strawberries, add one small yogurt, a tablespoon of SF honey, 4 ounces of water, ice, & 2 scoops of Gladiator protein powder. Each smoothie has a whopping 45 grams of protein!!!!! If you do buy this powder don't follow the directions to add 12 ounces of water it will NOT taste like the one you buy at SK, only add 3-4 ounces of water!
The Strawberry Powder:
Calories 190
Total Fat 0
Cholesterol 0
Total Carbs 1.5 g
Protein 45g
Sodium 150mg
potassium 355mg
& a butt load of Vitamins!!!

Hope I helped & if you have any other questions just ask!!

this is awesome information...if you add the fruit does that add sugar to it?

i am going to go buy some of this powder on my way home today...i have been struggling to find decent protein and 45 grams is huge!

thanks so much for the help...my countdown is on...5 days to surgery!!!

DITTO on what Katherine posted . . I luvvvvvvv my Smoothie King and could not have been so successful without it . . I, too, get the Gladiator . . I also buy the powder and make my own . . I always keep a canister of Chocolate, Strawberry, and Vanilla on hand to make my own because the closest Smoothie from me is an hour away . . I even thought of opening a Smoothie King --- just to get my fix!!!!! lol . . I definitely agree that you do not put the water they're talking about --- only a little water and a little ice . . I use fresh and frozen fruit and put them in a container with a little sweet and low to make them juicy and tasty . .I also drank a lot of Isopure protein . . got it at GNC -- Grape Frost was my favorite . . . good luck to you on your weight loss . . it's the best thing I could have done for myself . . I had my sleeve almost 2 years ago and never looked back . . it's amazing!!!!  I have lost 121 lbs. and now working hard to get 10 more lbs. off ----- but I'm perfectly happy with my success . . oh, I freeze Smoothies sometime so they're ready when I want them . . made 3 yesterday and now I'm thinking of having one right now (I know, it's only 5 am here) . . I'll have one later in the day, but now my mouth is watering for a Gladiator!!!!

Hello Sherry,

It's just a couple of days away from you surgery and I do hope all is going well with you. I send out the communications for Dr. LeBlanc's group and facilitate the support group meetings. Are we in contact with you by regular mail or email? If not, please let me know how you should like to receive reminders of our events.

Our past newsletters had protein shake and soup recipes in them. This might be helpful in coming weeks if you don't have them already.

I will be in the office (next to the hospital) on Tuesday. I can stop by if you or your family need anything.

This can be an exciting time and I hope this is the start of all your dreams coming true.

All my best,
Frances

Hi Frances!

Everything is going very well...I have lost 16.8 lbs so far on my pre-op liquid diet.

I haven't received anything about the support group meetings as yet...but you can reach me via email at [email protected].

It would be great to have some additional recipes.

My procedure is scheduled for 10am on Tuesday...I can't think of anything we need but my family may appreciate a word of reassurance while they are waiting. :)

Thanks for thinking of me...and I can't wait to start the journey into my new life!

Sherry

Hello Sherry,

You are indeed in good hands, but that doesn't mean you need all the support and information you can get your hands on. I have a few back issues of the newsletter that I can send to you by email.

This can be a grand adventure and I'm excited that we will be walking it together.

All my best,

Frances
