What if I don't have a PCP and want WLS?
I am 26 years old and considered morbidly obese...5'2'' and 230lbs. Going to the Dr. is something I haven't done since I was in middle school...maybe even younger. I do have a PCP and I don't have any diagnosed weight related problems (although I have some of them such as the the heart burn, shortness of breath, depression, etc). I was reading and it says that you have to have documented papers from your PCP. I also didn't keep receipts from the gyms, weightloss centers, and bariatric specialists I went to over the years. I really am interested in having some sort of WLS but I now feel even further behind than when I started.
No PCP
No Documented Medical Conditions
No Documented Diets/Exercise Routines
I don't know if insurance will cover it

i didn't have a PCP, either. i made an appt with my surgeon and asked him to recommend a PCP for me.
i have blue cross blue shield also, but everyone's policy is different. pick up the phone and call the number on your insurance card to find out exactly what you need. my policy required no prior documentation.

YOu need to talk to a bariatric program to find out if your insurance covers and what the requirements are. One of my family members is working with the program at Lafayette General. Call 289-8484 and ask for Bariatrics. The staff is very helpful and will guide you thru all your questions. HOpe this helps
just wanting to know if you have progressed in your venture. i had a worse problem than you. i had no insurance at all so i can't help ya there but i will lend ya some moral support. i was 5' 4" 248 and drowning in fat. my back hurt most of the time, my knees and ankles, gastric reflux, breathless, and imbarassed to go out in public. i had my rny in 2007. i went from a very tight plus 22 to a old navy size 4. i am 45 and it has put the life back into my years.
