Hello Gayla: The Microwave Chronicles

Disclaimer: I'm goofy and always have been.

Ok, there's a picture of me talking to Gayla on the phone yesterday. I discovered I could set the timer and put the camera in the microwave. I'm almost seven weeks postop and decided to update my mugshot and progression. Granted, the biggest change is my hair. My dread "plugs" are sprouting down my back and they have grown about two inches since surgery. Other than that, I still cringe when looking at my double chin. I am approaching 35 pounds since surgery and nearly 50 pounds since the 2 week preop.

Many of you will pass me in the dust and I hope Gayla is leading the pack.

Here's to you, ya bunch of losers!

Onward!

Hey Fran!

Work that new tool my friend!

People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown

Thank you, Faith!

We are gearing up for an October Walk from Obesity in Baton Rouge. We are planning a two-day event so we can get participants in the night before for a banquet and mixers. I hope that you can help get folks from Southwest La. and Southeast Texas in that number.

I will have specifics after a Wednesday meeting, but the walk date and hosting of the event are a done deal.

Hope to see you in person!

I can't wait to have you visit. And you will lead the pack ... I got a second sense about these things.

By the way, that big clothes exchange/excuse for a party is not early August. It will be Saturday, August 22 in Baton Rouge.

Road trip?

I like  the hair, and congrates on the weightloss. Dr  chungs office finnally has gotten the corect paperwork and is now waiting  on my  approval from medicaid to remove my band.I spent  last 2 weeks  on the phone with new orleans trying to  get a appointment with dr steeb to  have it removed and have sleeve done. They  keep telling me  my primary doc isnt in computer and they say they will  fix it but here I AM 2 WEEKS and still  not  done.

yesterday I find out that dr chungs office  has the medicaid  junk worked out, but  no surgury date. They say they  have to resubmit for it.This looks like  it will happen soon, but  Chung is only removeing band,he refuses to do the sleeve or bypass,he says I  used  up  my chance.I will be happy to have it removed. affraid of   not loosing   rest of weight and of gaining  more.

You could sign your post "DETERMINED IN DEQUINCY."

I don't know anyone who is more focused for the long haul. We haven't used our last chance until they close the casket on us. Revisions are being done in great numbers because for some reason or another, many (many) people do not have one shot at this, but find for a variety of reasons that a second procedure is needed to resolve their weight and wellness issues.

Removing my band was not my idea and I'm glad that Dr. Karl LeBlanc felt it wasn't my last chance at wellness. What he was saying in affect was not that the Sleeve was worth it, but that I was worth it -- that my life and wellness was worth both of our efforts.

Please stay encouraged and please know that I am still cheering you on to victory.

Love and respect,

Frances (still your  too)

Thanks Frances, its nice to have some encouragement. If Dr  Chung would  just  remove  band and do sleave  everything would be  great, lol, but as you  know for  some reason thing s do  not happen  easy like that.I  am  gonna keep  trying,if  I end  up  with  just  getting this band taken  out I think I have a fair  chance at still looseing the rest  of my weight.I  did  manage to loose from 398 to 337 before haveing  my lapband done. And the biggest  reason I cannot   loose  more  is I cannot  eat  healthy foods on a regular basis.Anything that is healthy I throw  it  up,if its crunchy,or hot and liquid  or  cold and creamy  it  goes down. You  know the drill. This is without any fill.
I accually fantisize about  cruncy fresh  green salads and grilled chicken,am I warped, lol?
I keep telling myself that  its  not set in stone that ill gain weight  with band removal, why  should I assume that  my  body will not  react to healthy eating and  excercise.

"DETERMINED IN DEQUINCY"

My money is on you, chick! I love what the band can do for some people and what it did for both of us. Our bodies are constantly changing and other factors just happen. The makers of gastric banding devices are making the products and instructions better for the next generation of bandsters because of us.

Your body will love healthy eating and exercise!
