MEDICAID
On the top of this message board is a standing post on Medicare/Medicaid. It has changed quite a bit in the last few years, but right now, there seems to be a doctor at Tulane in New Orleans accepting La. Medicaid.
Here's a recent response:
LSU Health Clinics
Dr. Glen Steeb
504-412-1310
Accepts Medicaid/medicare
I got him through LSU
the number above is to his Office at Baptist/Oshner
on Napolean Ave
Ask to Speak to Devin about what you need to do the get Dr. Steeb to do your Surgery and she will tell you the process and where to go.
If you have a PCP then be sure to tell them you need a referral for Gastric Bypass through LSU Health Clinic @Lord & Taylor Building on Poydras Ave
They seem to have gotten me started but it's a long process after 2 yrs I got my surgery date set
Hope this helps
I've seen practices that change their acceptance in a matter of weeks. I wouldn't wait too long to check it out.
Many of the non-Medicaid pratices will allow you to join their aftercare/support groups and it would be very helpful to find a group close to your home for support and fellowship.
Wishing you well,
Frances
