Hi, I just wanted to reply because I had gastric sleeve surgery with Dr. Steeb on April 22 of this year and I just wanted to say that Dr. Steeb is a wonderful Dr. He is also very soft spoken. His correct phone number is 412-1310. And yes he does accept medicaid.

Hey,
My surgery is scheduled for July 7th I have to see the shrink June 30th. What psych doctor did you see? Was is Dr. Conrad who is assoicated with Dr. Steeb? And are you having any problems so far?

Thanks

I can't remember the name of the psychiatrist I saw  but I know he is in algiers. The surgery went very well. I had Dr. Steeb remove my gallbladder at the same time and I think the whole thing took less than an hour. After the surgery, he puts you in intensive care. But when they wake you up after your surgery is over, you are going to be hit with some major gas pains but they kind of keep you sedated. You can call me if you have any questions, I will be glad to answer them for you. My number is 504-496-6773 and you can call me Tree.

Well medicaid just requires that you are obese and have different problems such as hypertension and things of that nature. Once I got my referral from my personal physician I called and made an appointment. They give appointments quick but Dr. Steeb is only in the office on thursdays.

I called Dr. Steeb's office and they told me to call on Monday to make my appointment.
Will M'caid pay for this if you don't have any other health problems but only fall under morbid obesity?
My BMI is 41 however I don't have any other medical conditions.
Is anyone else on this forum working to get approved w/ Dr. Steeb?  It would be nice to have a buddy.

I got a letter in the mail today with my appointment date in October.  I wonder what happens at this appointment?

Anyone else working to get this done via M'caid?  I would like to know others progress on this.

I am on M'caid and just now starting the process, can you give me any tips?  How do I get the referal from my PCP, this will be the first time I have gone to him.  Do I just say I would like a referal to....?

I went to LSU University Hospital and asked for referral to the surgery clinic yesterday, he faxed over the referral and now I'm waiting to hear from them.  I went to a doctor here in Lafayette and asked for a referral and he faxed it in May and I never did hear from the clinic.  So, now I'm hoping and waiting now for an appointment.

However, the doctor didn't know what the financial information was, I don't have medicaid and just lost my job and insurance in May.  So, I'm hoping for a miracle.  Does anyone know if they'll consider the performing the surgery on someone who will pay monthly or as charity?  I have pcos and insulin resistance and problems associated with being overweight...4'll and 280 lbs.  I'm miserable and need help...If anyone has any answers, please tell me.

Thanks

I know that it takes a while to get an appointment, like 3-4 months!   However I have an appointment there on Oct. 19Th that I have not canceled.
I got a loan and got the vsg on Aug 4Th. If you want my appointment time, let me know and we can call the clinic.
