DOC AT LSU IN NEW ORLEANS TAKES MEDICAID
Medicaid will pay for your surgery what you need to do is:
Have referral from your PCP
See a Psychiatrist that specailizes in Gastric bypass......there are none that except Medicaid so this will have to be an out of pocket expense
Go Thru LSU Health Clinic to get started in this process
it'll take time but be patient. It took me 2 yrs to get my surgery date...but at least I got it
Medicaid will pay for the surgery if your PCP says that you have other LIFE THREATINING Ailments caused by your Obesity:
Heart Condition
Diabetes
High Blood Pressure
Hernias which keep you from doing exercise
Hope this helps anyone that has this ???
Thanks to the both of you for backing me up.....I appreciate it..
Ditto, I stated all of this earlier, as my cousin will go on Aug. 3rd and get her date, she will have all the prelims out the way, whi*****ludes the psych eval and she has already seen a nutritionist. Before she even sees the psych eval they have already given her-her second appt. So she has the psych eval in July......so she is good to go by the grace of God.
Hers is moving along quite quickly......
We are all in this together...
It doesn't take 2 years to get a surgery date because I first met with Dr. Steeb in October and he asked me when I wanted to have my surgery done but at the time he was only doing Gastric bypass and I wanted a lap band but University won't purchase the bands. So I waited until march and called Dr. Steebs office back and found out the he was doing the sleeves. I got an appointment to go in and talk to him about having the sleeve surgery and he asked me when I wanted to have my surgery done and I told him april and he scheduled it. But I think at that time not too many people knew he was accepting medicaid.
