DOC AT LSU IN NEW ORLEANS TAKES MEDICAID

yea thats what i wasnt sure of i know i could use my own psych cause when i got the appt i wasnt happy with the time period so i called devin and asked her and she said yes. and what did you mean about medicaid and getting approved? i am super anxious, i am on here everyday checking things out and i just want an approval letter............anyways goodnight

I have yet to hear from the dietician @ University. However, I am not going to let that stop me! I have scheduled an appointment with the one @ my pcp's. I figure even if they don't acknowledge it, it's still gonna help me.

Am I the only one in the New Orleans area?

Like the rest of you, I'm excited, but won't rejoice to much until I see the approval leter from medicaid. I just want to get this procedure done, before they start making even more budget cuts, and slice this opportunity away from all of us.

WOW...Ok so the hospital has to approve it after medicaid approves it??? I'm confused...this is first im hearing about that but, seem to learn something new ever day! I'm on my first week of lessons for the dietitian so far so good. Just trying to get some extra walking in to help with that. I dont have any major health problems as of yet but, they are approaching. My blood pressure is creeping up on me as of now. So once I get an approval letter from medicaid that means we have to wait on another one from the hospital????

 i saw dr steeb yesterday and he told me as soon as i got my letter from medicaid that to call and they would go on and set a appt for my sugery....

OK so i just got off the phone with Devin . . . and the answer is YES, the hospital does have to approve you. She also said that is the reason for the 9 week course with the dietician. The hospital has their own protocal that they must follow and that is part of the program that allows Dr. Steeb to perform the surgeries there. So this is something that we all must go through. She did tell me that she recieved the copy of my blood work, so that's one thing down. Now to just get into this nutrition class and see the shrink. She also said that I'm on the roll for the next class with the dieticians. So I guess my journey is going to be a little slower than I expected.

that sucks that you have to wait.... but at least its on the way. i just keep telling myself that the docs know what they are talking about i just have to trust that if dr steeb says there's no reason i shouldn't get approved then ill be approved anyways :)

Thanks for all the great info. girls! Im also on it for the long haul. It really doesnt matter what they want me to do cause i'll do it! Im totally psych about this whole process. I have my Psych eval on the 25th then the only thing to finish is the dietitian the wait for approval letter. Woohoo

So the dietician, Lisa, called me today to say that the current two classes are booked solid and that I can't get in until after the new year.

I'm frustrated and having some issues with my sugars and my pcp has added another med to help comtrol my sugars.

oh that sucks... well keep your head up and everything will work out. im having a problem too....medicaid denied me but they said its because the doc office did not send them my bmi/height/health conditions. she said to call the doc office and tell them to send that stuff and give it two weeks and i should get approved.

they sent you a letter already?
when did you go see the doctor?
when do you see him again?
did you talk to medicaid?
i would be on the phone with devin asap!
