Hello Everyone!!!
Just wanted to say hello to everyone. My wife and i have decided to have weight loss surgery and have been looking at info. we are considering VSG with Dr Borland in lafayette. Does anyone have any opinions about the VSG versus the bypass or the lapband? any opinions appreciated. we will attempt to go to a seminar very soon as we are new to this. we have insurance which doesn't cover. Have a great day everyone.
Hello! First off, congratulations for making a wonderful decision for a better life! Now, as far as the surgery types, that's something you guys will have to ultimately decide for yourself, but I will share my opinion and surgery choice with you. I did research on them all and ultimately decided that the Duodenal Switch was the best surgery choice for me. I liked what it had to offer as well as it's success rates. That being said, I have seen both good and bad with the other surgery types as well so it really is ultimately a personal decision. If you would like more information on why I chose the DS versus the others, I would be happy to share with you what I found out in my research. God bless you both on whatever journey you decide!

Hi! congrats on your decision to become healthier andhappier! I too had VSG and personally I found it to be the best decision for ME. I was able to keep my intestines in tact and have the stomach removed and kept my pluric (sp))valve as well. I was considered a lightweight before my VSG at a BMI of 40 now I've lost 83-84lbs and I'm at a BMI of 25 or something ..... in 6 months!!! I went with a different dr outside of Baton Rouge but I wish you both the best of luck and if you have any questions dont hesitate to message me!!!
