(To Be Continued) I have a date

Nearly five years ago, I 'happened across' weight loss surgery and the Lap Band. My life changed in more ways than I ever expected, but after some health issues and several (unrelated) surgeries, my band and I parted ways.

I have no regrets for I have grown from my experiences and relationships. I have wonderful friends all over Louisiana, the U.S. and the world. I meet members of my OH family in every city I visit and have been blessed by others who have visited me.

I have been humbled to attend, plan and later lead support group sessions for superstars who have allowed me to motivate them while offering me geniune motivation.

Knowing that wellness is a precious gem and priceless treasure, I can not leave this job undone. Dr. Karl A. LeBlanc has been an incredible resource and friend. His belief in me is untiring and I have full trust in him and his amazing skill and caring capacity. The full scope of my medical/bariatric history is hard to brief, but both Dr. LeBlanc and I agree that the gastric sleeve procedure offers the best option considering my previous surgeries.

As I enter this new stage, I seek your continued prayers and support. I am merely a pilgrim on the same journey, but I am blessed with the opportunity to reach others through my facilitation of a support group, the editing of a bariatric newsletter and moderation of a patient portal that is in its infancy.

I am thrilled and excited ... let's walk together.

I would like to chat with you about Weight and See joining New U for a two-day event in the fall. We are trying to host a Winners and Losers banquet the night before the Baton Rouge Walk from Obesity.

I wanted to put that date, Oct. 2 and 3, in your mind before we started promoting it.

I am so happy for you!  I will pray that your surgery goes well. I hope that this surgery works well for you! I am thinking about getting the VSG in the future, so please keep us updated on your progress. I don't know you personally, just by your posts and whatnot, but you seem like very kind and genuine person..... I know that things will work out for you!

Hi Gayla, your reply made me laugh...and smile and that's a good thing.  I grew up in Lake Charles and my dad worked at Fort Polk for nearly 30 years so I can't say "Where in the world is Leesville?" but I can say Zachary is to Baton Rouge as Leesville is to DeRidder or Fort Polk.

I used to say I lived in Baton Rouge which might make more sense. I work in Baton Rouge.

Frances, I'm glad it made you laugh, and smile. Sharing a laugh and a smile should be one of our main goals in life, since it is one of the easiest things to do! I was hoping Zachary would be closer but it's not! Drats! LoL Oh well, I look forward to getting to know you better anyway! God bless you!

I am an Angel to a little sister in DeQuincy, you're close than that. I have shared a smile, laugh, cup of coffee, etc., with friends all over Louisiana. I've even cooked for a few.

Let's just set a date. The Walk from Obesity Weekend is Oct. 2-3 in Baton Rouge. I'll be there, Faith will be there....a sea of folks will be there.

I'm hoping for some down time this summer while I recover from my surgery. I'm often as far as Lake Charles; Leesville is just a hop from there.

Let's put our minds together.
