Do protein shakes make you nauseated?

Lately I am having a BAD problem with nausea after drinking these shakes.  It is ridiculous.  I have tried several different flavors and brands...even the Gladiator from Smoothie King.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Do these protein drinks have lots of sugar in them?  if so, that would be my guess.  I make  my own protein shakes and absolutely love them.  I would check the sugar content in the shakes you are drinking.  Also, at your stage I was nauseated pretty much all the time.

But, you may be DUMPING on the shakes if they're too sweet.

They are sugar free, but are soooo sweet.  I think the sweet makes me sick!  It feels like dumping.  Maybe tell me how you make yours and I will try that way.

I feel pretty sure that the artificial sweeteners are what's making you feel bad.  I do not like things that taste too sweet any longer - makes me feel awful.

I use Isopure Zero Carb protein powder (vanilla).  I use Silk unsweetened soy milk.  I put that one scoop of the powder and 1 cup of milk in the blender.  Then I add a spoon of Hershey's unsweetened cocoa powder, 3-4 frozen strawberries and some ice and blend it all up.  I absolutely love this shake and have been drinking the same thing (I know, boring) for over three years.  You can try anything you like with the vanilla as your base, however.

If you haven't been to the website bariatriceating.com, I suggest you try it.  You can purchase a huge variety of  bariatric friendly protein, bars, ready to drink shakes, snacks, etc.  You can also purchase sugar free syrups which many people use to add to their shakes.

Good luck to you.  You will feel better.  I truly was pretty nauseated at your stage.  It gets better and better.  If I can help, please let me know.

Thank you so much for the advice.  I appreciate it.  I am going to try that kind of shake.  I was going to order some of those protein bullets but my doctor advised against them.  He said that they don't digest well. I am kind of new at this so I guess I will learn as I go.

Have you tried taking Lactaid with the first sip of any milk product. It works for most people and did for me before I had my RNY but after surgery, Lactaid didn't work either. The doc said to try Soy products but that didn't work for me either so he said to just stay away from it because it made me really sick. Just make sure to get your protein in other ways. Good luck!
