Hello,

My name is Kathy and I work with Member Services here at OH.  I have a member that I have been trying to help for 3 years now.  Her health is taken a drastic turn for the worst.  She has medicaid and is in need of bariatric surgery in your state.  The problem is we CAN'T find a surgeon that takes her insurance.

We even got her approved to go out of state but none of the surgeons in the surrounding states would take her insurance.

If you know of any bariatric surgeon that takes medicaid please let us know the name and phone number....

Thank you all for any help you can give us!!!

Take care,
Kathy S

Surgical Specialists of Louisiana, in Lafayette, takes medicaid. Several people who were in the pre-op meeting were on medicaid. They had a relatively long waiting list - about 9 months, but they do accept medicaid. Hope this helps.

Kathy, I may not be much help but last I heard, Medicaid alone wouldn't pay for weight loss surgery. It would only pay for it if you had it as a supplement to Medicare. However, there may be other cir****tances that changes that. I know Surgical Specialists of Louisiana in Lafayette takes Medicare and Medicaid Secondary, however, their waiting list is now up to at least a year(for Medicare patients). You might check with them anyway though to see if that is different for Medicaid or if they can bump that up due to her state of health. Hope this helps some and if there's any more I can do, please let me know. I live in Leesville, if she lives anywhere near me, I would be more than happy to help her in any way I am able.

I just had surgery with Dr. Masrgaret Inman, at St. Vincents in Carmel.  She does the Duodenal Switch, as well as the other surgeries.

I had Medicare and Medicaid due to disability, but there was a guy in my pre-op class who had Medicaid only.

Dr. Inman is a very compassionate doctor, as are her partners, Dr. Evanson and Dr. Richison.

Her office number is (317) 814-4580.
