First post since Surgery!

I am 12 days out.  Surgery went well. One of my incisions got infected and I wound up in the emergency room last Saturday with 103 fever.  Now my hubby is packing the incision twice a day and I am bored, tired, and mentally worn out.  The smell of the infection is like nothing I have ever smelled before.  The smell gets so bad that it turns my stomach. The pain medicine and the antibiotic is horrible tasting and frankly I just cannot stomach much else.  I am sitting here now nibbling on a calcium chew in an attempt to get some of my supplements in.  I know that it will get better, but at the moment I am praying to feel better....

Right now, the only consolation that I have is that I have lost 15 pounds.  I know that there are bumps in the road along the way, but right now they are a bit overwelming...Everyone says that there is a period of time after your surgery where you question whether you did the right thing.  Is all of this worth living your life over weight and unhealthy?  I sure hope so....

Don't worry, things will get muchbetter.  It took me a good 6 weeks to feel 'normal' again to where I did not question my decision to have surgery.  But I got past that and I am so happy with my surgery now.  Hang in there!  I hope you feel better really soon!

I had the sleeve, and I felt the same way. It was about 4 weeks before I started feeling good again. I had a very big case of buyers remorse...but it is soooo worth it once I started putting on old clothes again! I am now about 7 weeks out and I feel great!

10 lbs lost preop.

Sorry you experienced a complication.  it has to be tough.  but it will get better and you will feel better soon.  Especially when you get to try on some new clothes!

Are you up to the support group meeting tonight?  I LOVE the meetings and wish they occurred more than once a month.  It is so good to see people in various stages of recovery.  I'll look for you.  Big big (gentle) Hug!

Hello Kim,

We surely do need to talk. I hit some serious bumps in the road and I know the pain, frustration and doubts of your moment. I remember seeing Dr. Hausmann once when Dr. LeBlanc was out of town. I knew then that I was in a dedicated family environment and I could count on them taking good care of me.

I'm going to search out my blog posts when I had big doubts about having surgery. This will pass and victory will taste sweeter than any thing you have ever experienced before.

Hang in there!
