I'm am scheduled for VSG with Dr. Alvarez in Mexico on March 17.  I have read all the profiles of his patients and none have had anything at all negative to say about him!  I am very please with everything that I have read.
If anyone has any advice, tips, hints, etc..  Please share!!!

Thank you both for responding.  I am a bit nervous, but way more excited!
I'm hoping to be at a healthy weight before my 44th birthday in November.

Thanks Again,

I was going to Mexico, and I really liked Dr. Alvarez. I ended up choosing Dr. Borland in New Iberia ONLY because I have a very young daughter and I didn't want to leave her. Dr. Borland's price was similar to Dr. A, but Dr. A had so much more experience with the sleeve. Dr. Borland has been doing bariatric surgery for a very long time.  It ended up just a choice of A or B   :)  Good luck!!!!

How was your experience with Dr. Borland?  Did his price include everything needed or only the surgery?  I'm just wondering since i live much closer to New Iberia than I do to Mexico!  I have only a certain amount of money that I can spend.

Hi! Sorry for taking so long to get back. Everything is included in the 9300. I am in the same situation. Hewas really nice, and there are others who have used him on this site. My surgery is May 4th. Good luck!!

I will chine in and say I loved Dr Borland.  he is a super nice Dr with years of baritric surgery under his belt.  H has only been doing the sleeve for about 1.5 years now but has been doing the RNY for over 20 and that is a much more difficult surgery.

Hello Wendyvanosdell,

I am considering Dr. Borland as well.  I will be a self pay patient and I have a low BMI, I was looking for a great surgeon with a good price and came across him.  I am just a little concerned that he hasn't done a lot of VSG's, but I spoke with the nurse (I think Mary) and she was so sweet she explained everything and she also told me she had the procedure done herself by him and that made me a little comfortable.  If you can give me your experience with him I would greatly appreciate it.

I was worried about that, too. He has been doing bariatric surgery for a very long time, that made me feel much more comfortable with him. I didn''t like the city of New Iberia, it was kind of yucky looking. I got lost on the one way streets, my navigator program wasn't working correctly there. I only live about 2.5 hours away, and that was wonderful! I found everyone there very friendly. I have limited funds, which is why I was originally going to Mexico. I like staying in the States, and right here close to home. Emily Rose and Southern Lynn both used him, and some others. Good luck!
