UHC "In-Network" Baton Rouge, LA
Hey Sherry,
I too have UHC and they would only approve Dr Richardson at Oschner in New Orleans. It has something to do with Dr's they consider excellent. Dr Karl Leblanc was trying to get accepted by UHC last year when I first began the process back in April. You might want to give him a call and see if he has gotten approved.

Thanks Linda...if I have to, I will of course travel to where I need to in order to make this happen.
The main frustration is that I chose this particular insurance plan, which is more expensive, specifically for the point of having this procedure.
Additionally, I had taken the time to research the surgeons on the list of providers, found one in BR only to be told later, yes, he is in network but not for this procedure.
On top of that, now I am being told I have to attend weekly nutrition classes at the surgeons office for 6 months before i can be approved for the surgery...I work in Baton Rouge...there is no way I can miss a day every week to travel to and from the surgeons office if it is not local.
Today alone I have been transferred 6 times, disconnected once and as of right now, on hold for 13 minutes just trying to find someone who can help me.
I'm a really nice person...promise I am. :) I'm just not understanding how you can not have ANY surgeons in-network in the capital of our state...
