"Real Food" too early?
However, starting on the 23rd, my husband started eating "real food". He went to Applebees and had the Monterrey Chicken and mashed potatoes. Granted, he brought home 3/4 of it, and said that he chewed the chicken up really, really well. On Saturday, he had a fried cheese stick, just one, and ate it really, really slow. On Sunday, he had the meatloaf from McAlister's. Once again, he brought back 3/4 of it (at least) and said that he ate really, really slow and chewed it up very well.
He says he feels great and actually feels much better having this food. Even so, I'm worried about the effects of the food, even if he's eating a 'correct' proportion of the food, and doing his chewing and slow eating. As long as he's tolerating it and not having any side effects, do you think it makes a difference. I'm jealous and want to try the same thing, but I don't want to jeopardize the surgery. I have 'graduated' to the mashed potatoes, but the chicken looks sooooo good! :)
Any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated!
I was just checking to see if he needed to be concerned that the 'real' food might not digest or would cause him some sort of physical harm that he wouldn't be able to feel.

I think Clirishu pretty much said it all. I had my surgery before you and your husband and I'm still on liquids. I'm glad your husband is losing weight but please advise him to follow his doctor's orders. I know alot of the doctors are different when it comes to the post op diet but this just seems too soon for him to be having this food because you need to let your new anatomy heal. Another thing is that right now he can only it 3/4 of the food but the food he is choosing is really not the best. It sounds good but when you look at the nutritional value it's just not the best esp in these resturants. What happens when he can eat more and these are the choices he is now used to. I don't want him to gain the weight back so I pray he begins making the right choices now. I'll be praying for the both of you.
