I DONT THINK I AM SUPPOSE TO BE ABLE TO DO THIS
OK..I HAD MY SURGERY ON DEC 1 2008...AND AM ALMOST 7 WEEKS OUT I AM WORRIED...I CAN EAT MOST ANYTHING I WANT...I DON'T TRY TO CONSUME BAD THINGS FOR ME AND I CAN EAT ABOUT A CUP OF FOOD ... THIS WORRIES ME...SO I MEASURE...
3 OZ MEAT AND 1/2 C VEGGIES...FOR BREAKFAST I EAT 2 SCRAMBLED EGGS 1 IF I EAT HAM OR A MEAT WITH IT...I AM FINDING THAT I AM GETTING HUNGRY IN THE AFTERNOONS I EAT LUNCH AT NOON...AND AROUND 3-4 I WANT TO EAT AGAIN...I DO EXERCISE WHEN I CAN ABOUT 3-4 TIMES A WEEK. (TREAD MILL) I HAVE LOST AT THIS TIME 53 LBS BUT IT IS NOT COMING OFF AS FAST AND I THINK IT SHOULD... I THOUGHT ABOUT GOING BACK TO LIQUIDS EVERY OTHER DAY TO HELP THIS PROCESS OUT...WHAT TO DO...? I DO REACH MY PROTEIN GOAL....ANY SUGGESTIONS SHOULD I HAVE A CALORIE AMOUNT INTAKE?

Possibly the nerves haven't healed in your pouch yet so you don't fully feel your restriction. I suggest you continue to measure and only eat what is measured out. This way you know you are not overloading your pouch and risking getting sick. I didn't dump in the beginning and now at 8 months out I have to be very careful about what I eat. I was fortunate to not have an appetite at the beginning and still do not really get hungry. The last few days I have been having cravings, but no real hunger. Make sure you know which one you are having - it may not be real hunger. Also, because my BMI was so high, my surgeon encouraged me to stick with liquids and let my body use my stored fat as a source of energy. If you are making sure you are getting your protein in, then liquid days may not harm you but you should speak to a nutritionist before you do anything nutritionally drastic. Good Luck!
Canjun, you are doing great! 58 lbs, WOW! We all lose at different rates. Some of us can and do eat a little more then others. What size tummy do you have? I don't know how much you are wanting to lose, but it took me 1 yr and 2 weeks to get to goal. I am fine with that. There are alot of people lose the same amount in 6 months. Just check around and you will see. We are all different! Wishing you lots of luck on your journey and remember if you are doing all the right things, the weight will come off. You will love your sleeve.

Hi!
I'm Rachael...new on the LA board, but thought I'd jump in!
If I am reading correctly, you lost 13 lbs pre-op and then another 40 lbs in the first 7 weeks post-op so far. I say SUPER! We get addicted to seeing larger and larger losses, but you have to find something else to focus on!
I read on your profile that you had nutrition classes as a part of the surgery. Did they give you literature describing how much and of what you would be eating at 7 weeks out? You should also be able to contact those nutritionists if you think you are 'off' course by what they described your diet to be. I was expected to meet with the nutritionist 6 times total, two before and four afterwards, but I could then see her for how many I needed to in the first year. They always knew exactly what my surgeon's standards and expectations were. If you have this resourse, USE IT!!! Don't be afraid to ask your nutritionist or your surgeon's office these questions. At 7 weeks out, you are still very much under their direction.
Another thought...you are doing super in the exercise department. That's a lot of activity right after surgery when your body is using precious protein to heal itself so you might be feeling a need for food because you are burning fuel.
My personal experience was no hunger for MONTHS and I didn't lose any faster than the rate you are describing. Our funny bodies do their own thing.
Keep measureing :-)

hey Rachel...thanks for the comments...I am learning about my body...and the things I need. I am still a diabetic. I went to see my Dr the other day...(I love her) she told me that I have to eat to be healthy...My NUT told me i could eat 3-4 oz mt and the 1/2 cup vegies I get in. I had to cut out my protein bars...even with 6 or less grams of sugar they made my sugar high...I think in general everyone is different...She explained to me that if God did not put it on the planet we should not eat it...as in processed foods...altho I do agree that there are some foods that ok or healthy..like cheese, yogurt...ect...cutting out some processed foods has brought my sugar down to a very healthy range...I am happy about that....Discouraged as I was...when I went to see her just shy of a month since my last visit..I had still lost 15 lbs since my last visit.... and i was not really eating things should have been for MY body. Anyway...thanks for your encouraging words ..and yes I plan on calling my NUT letting her know what is going on...ohh and I AM getting in my proteins...in the form of meat...
thanks again for posting to me,....

girly you are doing great cause let me tell you i had my surgery on dec 5 and i have only lost 20 pounds and i eat less than you do. so comparing me and you, you are doing excellent. i know it is hard to resist temptation but i do it cause i will get sick!! dont get discouraged cause you have come a long way already. take care and god bless
thank you...very much for the encouragement....my Dr said we have to eat...to loose ...and it makes sense to me..now...i know in the beginning we are limited to what we can eat....but all i have to say is for me when i could eat choosing healthy foods is what has made the difference in my weight loss..just this week cutting out the protein bars...and eating meats instead for my protein i have lose about 9 lbs...wow what a difference...!! we need to educate ourselves about healthy foods....it's workin for me...lol
thanks again and i do wish u the best...neighbor...
