surgery date
I am surgery +2 today. There is still some discomfort,, ie soreness, gas pain, but I am feeling fine other than that. I have also had some nausea but no vomiting to date. The first 5 hours or so after surgery are unpleasant as your body is coming out of anesthesia. Actually it is a bit of a rough ride. But that passes quickly as you are fading in and out of conciesousness due to the after effects of surgery and the pain meds given when you get back to your room. The nursing staff at St Elizabeths are very attentive to your needs and respond quickly when you ring for them. My only complaint about the hospital is that they positioned the toilets to close to the wall and to low to the ground. A tall person of size will find it impossible to use them. The showers are also very small but I managed to take a shower the day after my surgery anyway.
I am drinking water all day along with my protein vials. Yesterday I was still on chipped ice most of the day but switched to bottled water late last night. I also had about 3 ozs of broth from a can of Progresso chicken and noodle soup. Today I will add some frozen sugar free sorbet, crystal light, more broth, warm decaf tea, and most importantly will try to walk outside.
Thanks to all of you that have written messages to me with well wishes or inquiring into how I am doing.
