Hi,  my husband is scheduled to have gastric sleeve next week.  How long ago did you have your surgery and how much have you lost?  Did you have any complications with surgery and recovery?
One last question.... did you have any problems with your gallbladder and your rapid weight loss?
Thanks for the info

Hi . . I had the sleeve on November 12th of last year (a year already) and it is the BEST thing I could have done.  I have lost 110 lbs. and feel so much better.  I did not have any complications with the surgery and I believe the recovery was normal.  I had a few instances of throwing up (ugh), but it was my own fault --- either ate too fast or didn't chew enough.   .  getting your energy back has been something I have heard a lot about at our support group meeting -- but when it comes back -- WATCH OUT!!!!  I did have gallstones and in July had my gallbladder removed -- no problems at all with that . . I had a lot of nausea and some pain before gallbladder surgery, but all is fine now --- I wish your husband luck and he will do great!!!!!  FAYE

Thanks for the message.  My husband had the surgery a week ago and is doing great.  No complications so far.  Do you remember how you managed to get all your protien during the liquid diet stage? He is drinking slimfast with 20 gr. protien and adding protein powder to everything else. It is still a challenge to get 60 - 80 gr. of protein in. Looking forward to another good week...Thanks again,

Glad his surgery went well and best wishes to him.  The first couple weeks getting in my protein was a challenge (to say the least) for me -- I had some nausea, so it was mostly sugar-free popsicles right at the beginning -- no protein, I know----, but after that I had no trouble at all.  A friend who had the surgery made a chart with every 30 minutes of the day listed and she would document when she would have protein, etc . . that worked well for me --- after a couple months I stopped tracking -- but by that time I was doing great with my protein.  I love the Isopure Grape Frost and drink lots of that (it's 40 g. of protein and zero carbs) --- in fact, I'm still drinking it.  I was able to get all my protein in with Isopure  and the New-Whey Liquid Protein . .later I started the Smoothie King Gladiator -- which I LOVE --- I still rely on Smoothie King Gladiator for my protein --- just can't have the entire 20 oz. one all at one time- but you can put it in the freezer in small cups in the freezer and take them out and drink them as you need them . . (also, you can buy the Gladiator powder from Smoothie King and make your own, which I do often-- put strawberries and bananas in it )-- but in the liquid stage, you could just buy the strawberry one/chocolate one and it's delicious . .  I did use some of the powdered protein, also . . I never had hair loss, so I'm assuming the protein "did the trick" --- it is a challenge, that's for sure!!! When I went to the doctor for my first month check up after surgery the doctor asked me how much protein I was getting in -- I was proud to say 60 gr. and he quickly told me I needed to go to the "higher end" and consume 80-100 gr. and the more the better ---- good luck to him on the protein . . Faye, . It has been a battle with the protein. We have been adding protein powder to everything and  I realize it doesn't  taste good.   I will try to find Isopure tomorrow and will try smoothie king also. He had lots of energy today and overdid it... I will probably have more questions as he starts his weight-loss journey.   Thanks for your reply.        nancy

The Isopure is good because it's more like Gatorade to me . . not the "milky protein" (if you know what I mean) . . but it comes in different flavors -- I just like the Grape Frost best --- I find if you drink it out of the bottle you don't smell that "medicine smell" and it tastes good --- some people like it on ice --- or cold out of the bottle -- and sometime I even drink it room temperature --- and the Smoothie King Gladiator is the best --- like I said, you have to buy the 20 oz., but you can freeze cups of it and take it out as needed . . I'll be here if you have anymore questions . . FAYE

You can find Isopure at GNC or you can get it on-line ---

I see you have mentioned protein intake.  I had surgery July 3rd.  I am down 68 lbs. but have not been getting the protein in.  I got very sick with a virus (or so they think) the end of August and am just now getting to where I can eat any meat.  Just putting it in my mouth would make me sick.  I have tried the whey powder in the big can from Wal-Mart and it was a waist of my money.  The most disgusting thing I've ever tasted.  I have not lost hair yet which really surprises me.  I know I have to get in the protein but just don'[t know how to get that much.  Like I said, I haven't been able to eat any meat at all until about a week ago, and even now it is very little.  I mainly live off of soup.  I have always loved any kind of soup and can get it down better than anything.
