Hi, I don't usually post on the La board, no reason personally other than I had surgery in 05 in Texas and since I posted there regularly I tend to stay on that board.

I have a good friend also from SW Louisiana that is in Texas but moving back this way in a week or two. She and I were talking about local support and was wondering if anyone is aware of a support group in the Lake Charles/Sulphur area? If not, would any of you be interested in maybe getting together once a month for support and a meet and greet?

If so let me know please and maybe we can get something started. I'm not sure how yall feel but for me I need to know there are others out there trying to reach goal, stay at goal and remain successful.

I just wanted to say hello. As you know, I'm from Lake Charles, but spend most of my time hanging out in Baton Rouge.

There are some really good peeps in Lake Charles right now, I hope your friends hooks up with a good support system.

I'm in Leesville (ugh) and my surgeon Dr. Chung in Lake Charles does a support group meeting each month. I haven't had a chance to go yet (I'm almost 4 months out) but I bet it's good, I really like him and his staff. I need to find out when the next meeting is.

Thanks for your reply. I was wondering if Dr. Chung had a support group and if it's open to anyone or just his patients. I think I'll call his office and find out.

Maybe one day we can meet, I know being around others that understand WLS helps tremendously.

I am in DeRidder and I have started a support group or I am attempting to start one. I have a meeting scheduled on 10/23/08 here in DeRidder. If you can't attend, I would love to meet up with you and your friend because I am Lake Charles often. Let me know.

Hi Faith, thanks for the reply. My friend is moving back next week maybe we can set something up where we can go your way sometimes and then possibly have something here in Lake Charles too.

BTW, you look great! My hubby had has a lapband also, same surgeon as you!

Sounds like a plan to me. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, 10/23/08 at 6:00 p.m. at the Beauregard Parish Libary on Washington Street in DeRidder.
