OT: Alabama visitor re: Gustav

Hey all!  I was just visiting your board to say hello and check on everyone.  What is the news with Gustav?  Any evacuation notices yet? I live just south of Birmingham and I am hearing that hotels are booking quickly all along I-59 north and our area churches are making shelter plans.  What are you all hearing and seeing down that way?  Stay safe!

Mandatory evacuations of the lower parishes are set to begin early tomorrow morning.  All the hotels in Nort LA have been booked for a few days now.  Pretty much it is panic mode now!

 I live in Lafourche parish and despite a mandatory evacuation, we are not leaving.  I have a sister who has a sturdy home and natural gas generator - we are all set up!  I will check back in with you after the storm passes.  My only fear is that my grouchy pouchy will not like hurricane rations.

I will be in prayer for you. I hope as the landfall details become available, y'all will reconsider.

Three years ago, I had a very hard time with disaster rations.

I will keep you in my prayers! My brother lives in Marrero. He moved there from Metarie just one week before Katrina hit. He decided to evacuate this time and is coming here to Fla. Unfortunately, he may be driving into another hurricane if Hanna decides to come this way. Take care!
