Hi Everyone,

I had my surgery on Monday. Everything went fine with the surgery. I stayed in recovery over night. Dr. Richardson was going to discharge me on Tuesday but decided to keep me one more night. Thank Goodness because on Wednesday, I started bleeding from the rectum really heavy. Dr. Richardson and the residence Doctors told me it was not coming from the gastric by pass. They called in a colon and rectal specialist and he found internal hemorrhoids. What caused them to bleed was the heparin I was taking and the pressure from the gas that they put inside my stomach. Thursday the colon Dr. banded them and today, Friday I was discharged from the hosptial.

Now I will have to go through another surgery to have the hemorrhoids removed.

I am down 15 pounds since Monday!!!

Hi Sue,  I'm sorry that happened to you.  I decided last year to go to Mexico to have the lap band done as my insurance would not cover it and I couldn't afford the prices in Baton Rouge.  Also, I had heard the doctors had more experience on banding.  Well I went and as of July 1st I am living in Tijuana.  I've lost 75 pounds and still going.  I retired from the state on May 16th and am now doing what I wanted to do when I grew up.  I am running a bed and board for those that have had the surgery to give them the proper nutrition that is necessary for a sucessful recovery.  My gift from God is compassion and serving and since I've had the band myself I kinow how to relate to people that stay with me.  It has been a blessing and I feel like I'm on a 24/7 vacation...GOD IS SO GOOD!!!!

Sue,

Im so glad your home, I asked Pattie about you. Glad your doing better and things are going good now. Also how is your daughter doing, I was wondering about her also?

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

Hi Lindsey,

I am doing great! No more problems with the other issue. I am starting to wonder if Dr. Richardson really did the surgery. I quit taking pain medicine on Sunday. I have so much energy that I am ready to get on the treadmill but my husband said I need to wait until I go back to see Dr. Richardson. Today, I don't fell like eating anything. I forced myself to have 2 jello's 1 popsicle, and a smoothie and water.

I called Laura Monday and asked her if I could have a gladiator smoothie and she said yes with only bananas. I had one yesterday and today. She said as long as I get the smoothie in and all of my water, I would be fine. I drink water like its nothing. I don't sip and it doesn't hurt.

Thanks are asking about Jessica. She had a soft cast on her leg after surgery and yesterday the Dr. put her in a hard cast almost to her knee. She's having a fit. She has to use a walker and a wheelchair to get around. Hopefully when she starts back at Delgado on the 19th she will be out of the cast. Keep your fingers crossed. She is driving me NUTS!!!!!
