Yes, I had Gastric Bypass on 7/3 with Dr. Keith Chung in LC. It was time consuming getting approval. They require 5 years of medical history and a psych evaluation. After I got all my paperwork turned in I was approved in 3 weeks. Let me know if I can help.

Ok..well that is who I am dealing with too is Dr. Chung....I am scheduled for the psych eval...but let me tell you what I learned. The doctor's office gives you a standard list of what is required by the insurance company. When I called Unicare they told me that they do require the 5 year history, psych eval and for you to speak with a nutrionist...Well the list from the doctor's office states 6 months nutrition, etc., Unicare says they don't have a month time limit, they just require you have it done..
I learned this last week...so I guess it is important mostly to see what the insurance requires because a lot of doctor's offices gives you a standard list.........just a pointer I wanted to share..
Any details about after care from Dr. Chung?? How long were you off of work?

My surgery was July 3rd.  I had the typical after surgery pain, but it did get better after they got me up and walked.  The worst of it was the drain tube.  It was so awkward.  They removed the drain tube on Wednesday the 9th, and for some reason, things went downhill from there..  I was in extreme pain for about 4 days.  The pain began easing up after that and I was a little better each day.  I returned to work on the 24th,  exactly 3 weeks after surgery.  I don't think I could have gone back before then, maybe a few days, but thats about it.   I  am doing great now.  I am exactly 25 days out, and I really feel like my old self again.  I have lost 27 lbs. If you have unicare insurance, who is your employer.  I haven't heard of many from this area having unicare.

Also, I didn't have to see a nutritionist.  I had been a patient of Dr. Tracy's a year before, and we just used my records from there as being supervised weight loss.

Dr. Chung is great.  He doesn't really spend a lot of time with you, but I guess he gets the job done.  I did go back in when I was in such pain and he was very reassuring,  although at the time I wasn't sure there wasn't something more serious wrong.  He told me this week I didn't have to come back for 6 months.

Well I like Dr. Chung also. I wasn't too impressed with the female that took me to the back,,,she was not as warm as Jessica or Darla..But Dr. Chung was very detailed and wants to get the job done. I have a psych eval next week and then we will see from there. So wish me luck....I too have records from Dr. Tracey and trying to get those from Weigh****chers also.

Just for your info, the psyc eval is a joke.  I'm sure you will be going to Dr. Whiteman.  He asks a lot of questions and then sits you back in the waiting room with a questionairre.  If I'm not mistaken it was 170 questions, but it could have been more.  Lots of repetitive stuff, I think they are seeing if you are consistent with your answers; things such as was your mother a good mother, did you have a happy childhood, etc.  Your records from Dr. Tracey should be suffient; mine were.  Are you from DR by any chance?  If I can help you along the way, let me know.

Hey....I sent you an Email.... And yes it is Dr. Whiteman..............lol... The only thing with Dr. Tracey is that I did not go to her a year.........but I did get those records..
So Unicare was pretty good??? And I appreciate the help. I spoke with his office on Monday and they are like "Don't worry about anything" as for as insurance is regarded. So maybe it is going to be a breeze after the eval is done. How quick did you get the results?
