Shreveport Support Group?

Can anyone tell me if there is a support group in Shreveport/Bossier area?  I haven't been able to locate one that will include pre-op patients.  Also, I need to locate a mental health professional that will do the bariatric psych evaluation for me.  My surgeon is in another state since I wasn't able to find one that does the vertical sleeve procedure around here. Thanks for any suggestions!

At one time Schumpert had a support meeting, it has been a long time since I have been.  My surgeons office offered them too but again it has been a long time since I have gone.  Call the bariatric office at Schumpert they maybe able to help you with a support meetings.

At one time, there was a group at the Christus hospital in Shreveport and their bariatric coordinator was an active member here. Not sure what happened. There are members from North Louisiana posting here and I highly recommend you stay active and hope for off-line support opportunities.

Cities to the South of Louisiana are ripe with support groups and I wish we could ship our support to the North, but if you want to make a road trip, I can make some suggestions.

Thanks for your comments.  I am finding this to be a very frustrating ordeal.  The only Schumpert Bariatric number I could find has been disconnected!  This is a requirement for me to even get a surgery date, so you can see how critical it is.  Looks like another road trip coming up....

Might try overeaters anonymous.  They're pretty supportive in general about weight related matters.
