I'm feel like only Person on this Website From Lafayette
Hey guys and gals,
I'm having surgery on the 7th of this month and I'm getting nervous. Not to mention, I've been on this website for two years and I've never had anyone talk to me or anything. I honestly ask myself why I keep coming back sometimes. I was hoping for people in and around Lafayette would talk to me, tell me something. Also, I'm like the only person on the planet that is having his gastric bypass at Lafayette General Medical Center. My surgeon is Dr. Phillip Gachassin. It seems like there are no survivors on this board that have had surgery with this guy. I wish people would just talk to me here. But no one seems very friendly.
Hello Pitt and congrats on your upcoming surgery!
My patient group has members in and around the Lafayette-Breaux Bridge area. I do hear of folks having surgery with Dr. Chu in the area and a couple of years back, there were patients of Dr. Broussard.
I know there are people around, but feel free to visit other support groups and meetings around the region. I'm sorry you feel so alone.
Let's be friends.

Nahhh... you're not the only person from Lafayette here....
I didn't know LGMC started a bariatric program - that must be pretty new. I hope your surgery goes as smooth as it can.
You should also intro yourself over in the Men's forum - they're a supportive group of guys that will tell you like it is. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/men/
Also, start posting a journal in your blog - it's a great way to put your story into perspective, especially when you head over to the 'losers bench'. I'll get there one day...
All the best to you! Have a good surgery!
Mike
I'm not from Lafayette, but Crowley's pretty close. Give me a shout if you have any questions that I could answer for you.
I had the sleeve and attend the support group at Southwest Medical in Lafayette and the one in Baton Rouge at Our Lady of the Lake. There are more and more of us WLS patients around than you might think. The Louisiana board isn't as active as the individual boards.
Good luck with your surgery. Let me know if I can help with anything.
Hello
I live in New Iberia but I work in Lafayette. I had my surgery at Southwest. I didn't know Lafayette General had a bariatric program. I usually respond to forum posts not so much sending messages to users unless I have a specific question. Don't leave the board. Everyone here is pretty nice and I've learned alot about my surgery and alot of other things on this board. Maybe not this exact forum because there aren't very many of us in Louisiana, but there are other forums for specific surgeries and such. Congrats on your surgery it truely is a life changing event. I am loving my journey!
