Today I went for my pre op for the lap band and had an upper GI series done.  They found that my duodenum was narrowed and couldnt really see why...I dont have any ulcers or anything  now i am worried I wont be able to have the surgery  wont find out until pre op physician talks to my surgeon. Help anyone please, he said it could be that my pancreas has grown around it  why would it do that??? Any help appreciated

You should be able to have the lapband surgery b/c it doesn't matter what the state of your duodenum is in but what your GE junction at the top of your stomach is in....maybe this is what you're talking about and I'm just confused by your post. Hope everything comes out fine!

I had esophageal dysmotility and could not have the lap band.  I went ahead with rny and am loving it.

The same thing happened to me. It seems I had spasms of the esophagas so Dr. Warden felt the band might aggravate it , so he would recommend RNY. I am very happy that I chose RNY because of today, 9 weeks later ,I am  38 pounds lighter and lovin it.
