Dr. Shimer in Lake Charles

Dr. Shimer was not my surgeon but once I mvoed out of the area from my surgeon I needed to find a doctor to do fills.  After seeing Dr. Shimer twice for fills, the second fill was too much.  I came home and throughout the next day could not keep anything down, not even water or my own saliva.  I called the next day (2 days post fill) to report the issue and try and get another appointment to get some taken out.  They told me to come in the afternoon and get worked in.  He had trouble finding my port (the first two times it went smoothly) and after trying to find it for about 10 minutes, gave up and decided I needed to go to the hospital (St. Patrick) to get it done.  I live almost 2 hours away and he knew this.  The hospital could not see me, and instead of coming out to talk to me about it he sent a tech out 3 times to basically tell me to go away.  Instead of trying again to find my port I was told that if I waited until he saw all his patients for the day (it was about 2:30, so about a 3 hour or more wait) he would come out and "talk to me" at that time.   So, I would not recommend Dr. Shimer.  My first 2 visits I enjoyed him, but this most recent visit I felt like he was not that interested in helping me be successful with my band.  I am in search of a new doc for fills in the cenla area.

you might want to call Dr Chung's office (337) 433-1303 and try that route.  I have the bypass 2 years ago, but I know he place a lot of lap band as well.  I hightly recommend Dr Chung because I think he cares about his patients...give him a shout.  Jenn
