There are not very many people from Northwest La that post on this board.  I lur****asionally.  I live right outside Shreveport so I am pretty close.   I had my surgery 2 1/2 years ago by Dr. Merriman.  He usually has a seminar monthly and it is very informative.  I would highly recommend him.  I really like his post op program.  Once your a patient your always a patient.   Good luck with your journey.

Hi!  I am really thinking LAP BAND is my best option at this point. Something about the whole stomach thing really gets me. My moms best friend is a nurse that takes care of the bariatric patients and her advise is also going to be considered with my choice. But, if I am not mistaken, The Barnes are the only ones here that do lap band arnt they? I may go to the seminar and see what I can learn from that......I just dont know where to start! I have been doing a LOT of reading today on here.....so far it is a 3 way tie....LAP, DS, or RNY.........What helped influence your decision?

I know Dr. Merriman does the lapband and has done a bunch.  I'm not sure about the Barnes.  I know that Dr. Jones does not do them.  Dr. Norwood does some WLS and I think he may have started not to sure though. The band was out of the question for me for several reasons.  I really needed the RNY and had the support of my gastrointerologist because of the severe heartburn that I was having.  I needed something fast.  Also I had to fight and exclusion in my insurance so I knew the lap band was not even an option, plus if it were an option I didn't want to have to worry about the fills and then having insurance change and not cover them. Plus I just didn't think it would work for me.  I have always justified my eating and felt like I could eat around the restrictions.  I could still get full on Little Debbies, I needed something that would help me with those addictions.  I am proud to say 2 1/2 years later I still have not had a Little Debbie.  Maybe a bite of something sweet but no more.  I don't know enough about the DS to even comment on it.

Well it is still early on for me, so I cant really tell you a lot about it, but so far so good for me.  I have had one fill and most days I am easily satiated.  Now there are days like today when it feels like I wanna eat all day long, but its just grazing, nothing like I did eat.  I didnt lose any pre- op so the 23 lbs I have lost has all been post op.  There is another friend of mine on here that had her surgery in Shrveport, I think she used Dr. Merriman.  Her name is Sptalents.

Go to the left hand side on the top section by the Welcome....go down to the user settings, once there (where you put your avatar) scroll down and you will see the signature line.  Once you put what you want go on down the check the Incluse my signature.  I think that will do it.
