Yesterday was the start of my journey to become half the woman I am now, to become healthy, to eat to live not living to eat............I met with my surgeon, Dr. Merriman, for the initial WLS consultation.  I weighed in at 297.5 and would like to weigh between 135-140 lbs.  Doc and I agreed on the Lap Band for me.  i have Parkinson's disease and there are issues with the breakdown and absorption of my PD meds and malabsorption issues with gastric bypasses.  There isn't a lot known of how WLS and Parkinson's will affect each other.  Now I wait for docxtor's nurse practitioner to call and tell me the next step.  One of my daughters had Lap Band surgery last year in March and has lost over 90 lbs.  I am encouraged.  I look forward to getting to know you all.  We recxebntly moved to Louisiana and i know few people.  I need your support.  I will be here for you too.

Congratulations on making the decision to take care of you.  May your journey be uneventful until after the surgery when the real fun begins - weight loss and all the wows that go with it!  Good luck

Clirishu, Thank you for your words of encouragement.  I hope the doctor's office will call me back soon and  everything will fall into place.  my insurance only requires a letter of medical necessity and I already have it.  I have the 5 years worth of progress notes showing my weight.  already also.  I am just now atarting to try and lose some weight prior to surgery.  Guess I am excited to have the surgery and see my weight go down and health improve.  thanks again............Luvstosew
