how are rising grocery costs affecting the way you eat and shop?
I am in the process of reviewing a new low carb slow cooker cookbook so I went out yesterday to buy ingredients for about 10 of the receipes. I spent over $400.00 between Costco and Fred Meyer. Yes, I bought some non food items (diapers for example) but honestly, it was mostly food. I posted photos of the grocery store receipts on my blog and photos of some of the prices listed on the meats for example. I know that I live in Alaska so what I am paying is probably more than what most other areas are paying, but by how much? if any? I would love to know how other people are dealing with the rising costs of groceries. Please feel free to comment on my blog. I am really curious if I am paying much more than average.

I fixed a meal last week with beef for stew and I believe it was pretty close in price per pound. I have really noticed the price of bread and milk going up. Those are two items I seem to buy at least every other day. I buy the Natures Own Whole Wheat bread and at Walmart it was $2.44, I think that is up about .50 cents from a few short months ago. Milk is close to $5.00 a gallon.
If I can get up and moving today we plan to go to Sam's and the grocery store today....I know my grocery bill has increased and will go up even more starting next week. Two teenage boys home for the summer plus my daughter is home from college for the summer. May have to take out a part time job just to pay for groceries and gas...

Hey, I eat so little, but the hubby has to eat. I have noticed the groceries are so high. Sometimes, it just easier to go out. My husband and I split an entree and salad. I remember we use to spend around 60-70 bucks..........Now, its around $15-20. I dont drink anymore and that was 1/2 of the bill. I couldn't go to the store and buy the food and prepare it for that much. Those boys will cost ya bigtime with their big appetites. J
